How Your Vehicle is Tested

We have a designated test bay where the test is conducted, using a range of equipment that meets the required specification for MOT testing. We provide MOT tests  for HGV Vehicles Class 4, Class5, Class7 at our specialist  MOT test centre Castle Bromwich, in Birmingham.

 

The Mot Test

The standard test procedures are laid out in an inspection manual and this can be made available to you on request.

 

We have a designated viewing area from where you can watch the test being carried out but you are not allowed to interrupt the tester whilst he is working.

 

dvsaAll our MOT testers have been on a training course with DVSA  (the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) and are regularly checked on site for competence.

 

MOT Vehicle Checks

 

Brakes

The MoT brake test is normally undertaken on a rolling road, ensuring your brakes condition and operation meets the required standard.

 

Emissions

The MoT test that your exhaust emissions are within specified guidelines and your exhaust system is secure, without leaks and provides an effective silencer.

 

Fuel system

The cars fuel system is checked to ensure there are no leaks, and that the fuel system is secure and that it can be securely sealed.

 

Horn

The MoT test checks that the vehicles horn’s works and is the correct type.

 

Registration plate

The MoT test will check the condition of your registration plate, that it is securely attached, legible, and the letters and numbers on your plate are in the correct format.

 

Bodywork

The MoT test examines the bodywork for excessive corrosion or damage in specific areas of the vehicle, and that it does not pose a risk to pedestrian’s.

 

Doors

The MoT test ensures all doors open and close correctly and that the latch is secure in a closed position. Front doors need to open from both the inside and outside of the vehicle.

 

Mirrors

Your vehicles mirrors are checked for condition and security.

 

Lights

The Mot test checks the condition and operation of your lights including, security, colour and alignment is correct.

 

Seatbelts

The Mot test checks all of the vehicles seatbelts including those in the rear of the vehicle for correct operation, security and correct fitment.

 

Seats

The MoT test checks the condition of the front seats.

 

Steering and suspension

The MoT test will also check the Steering and Suspension components for sign of wear and ensure that it operates correctly.

 

Vehicle Identification Number

The MoT test will ensure that the Vehicle Identification Number is legible and is displayed in the correct manner on your vehicle.

 

Wipers and washer bottle

During the MoT test our technician checks that your vehicles windscreen wipers and washers are in good working order.

 

Windscreen

The Windscreen is checked to ensure there are no chips or cracks affecting the driver line of sight.

 

Wheels and tyres

A vehicle’s wheels and tyres are checked for condition, security, tyre size and type and minimum read depth.
